WHAT IS A FLIPBOOK?

It must have something to do with marketing - right?

Old-fashioned cartoon

In the old days, starting from 1886, a flipbook was nothing but a stock of paper. You could draw a stick figure on several pages and then flip them fast, making the stick figure move. One would say that it was the old-fashioned way of doing an animated film. But lately, the meaning of the word flipbook has changed.

Used everywhere online

Nowadays, a flipbook is related to computers and they are seen everywhere on the Internet. You have probably seen many before - when you look for grocery sales in the online supermarket brochure or look at the latest products in the online magazine from your favorite shop. All these online publications enable you to turn the pages in a fancy way and shadows and shine make it as realistic as a real physical book.

Flipbook software is not only intended for big companies any more - the price has been lowered, so everyone can afford it. From the small hairdresser starting up a business to the couple who want to create a dynamic wedding invitation to impress family and friends.

An online flipbook makes up for the limitations that PDF files have in design, content and interaction with the audience. With a flipbook a new world with unique opportunities emerges while you are still the one to determine the appearance and content.

The only option is "Save as PDF" - that's a bit boring isn't it?

By now we all know about PDF files. You make a digital document on your PC, and when you are done writing and editing, you "save as PDF". The advantage of saving your document as a PDF file is first and foremost that the document is then write-protected and formatted. When you send a request off to an employer and the employer prints your application, you can be sure that the printout will not be different from your original document. A PDF file does not change and the visual impression that you originally made is preserved.
The disadvantage of a PDF file, however, is that it is not "vivid and dynamic" and instead of flipping through pages of a publication, a PDF file only provides scrolling up and down. Moreover, it is not Google-friendly and is not easy to search for. Here, an online flipbook comes to the rescue with all the features that a normal static PDF file lacks.
