“NO! If it was Elena – she would be crying – ‘Please don’t hit me’ – or some rotting word from
her mouth. I never listen to her word vomit,” remarked Tomas.
“As soon as I find her I’m giving her a kiss in the face – with these three,” holding up his water
balloons.
Each second ticked by with endless agony. The little creature stopped making a sound, looking
deep into her eyes, somehow sensing it was in the midst of danger.
In the darkness of that corner - with three bullies surrounding her, cowering deep behind the sofa,
tucking in her cheese filled stomach – so not to make a sound or breath -- she closed her eyes for a few
moments – and wished that her life were different. Elena proclaimed her new life, carefully whispering
her words.
“I wish I was a Princess – right now – I would live in a castle, with my mother, and my
grandmother,” Elena said as tears streamed down her cheeks and the searing pain of hiding from her
tormentors shot through her heart. “In my castle, I would have a big, spacious closet filled with beautiful
dresses, purses and shoes, a softer than air, white, comfy bed with a matching luxurious white desk -- to
sit and draw my creations. I open a huge refrigerator filled with lots of delicious food – and I will never
feel hungry or scared again.”
Her vision of escape so real, so vivid -- until she heard the cry of a furry animal – who could not
speak.
Elena looked into the eyes of the creature, reaching her hand out to it – while she heard the evil
messages from her tormentors.
“Let’s go back to the roof, let’s give her a dessert to remember.” howls Ana.
“Desert?” askes Gabriela.
“After lunch --- comes--,“ said Tomas.
“4th period,” said Gabriela.
“No - listen to me,” said Ana, pointing at Gabriela. “Forget it. Let’s go.”
