Uplifting the client and adding
more value
“While working with one of Innodev’s valued clients as a Project Manager and utilising
one of the many hats in my consultancy kit bag, I could provide a level of value-added
service to the customer, which ultimately opened the door for the organisation’s systems
and technology department. This allowed me to utilise my diverse skills to enhance and
firm up their project delivery capability framework.
Not only was I able to mentor the Program Management Office Team Lead, but I
also assisted in redefining their end to end program governance model and delivery
management framework. Being able to give a broader scope of skill set during my client
engagement, I was able to show the level of versatility and showcased the added benefit
that Innodev consultants can give.”
Leading by example
“I played a pivotal role in the creation of a new Agile Scrum team at a client site. Working
alongside the Scrum Master, I identified and implemented improvements to the team
processes, removing bottlenecks and addressing areas needing clarity, while fitting in
with the organisational environment and toolset. During the sprints that followed, I took
the lead in undertaking technical analysis, design and estimation to feed into planning
sessions, setting an example for the team members new to Scrum.”

Investing in alternative thinking
“I posted a short update on the work I’m doing to become a ‘Licensed Facilitator of the
Agile Fluency Diagnostic’ to LinkedIn, which led to an opportunity to present to the Head
of IT in a Victorian State Dept. This is a validation of our investment in new techniques and
alternative thinking. We can create our own competitive advantage by taking some risks
and sharing what we are doing on digital channels.”
Be different than the rest
“At my current engagement, my team gave me the nickname of the “anti-consultant” and
it is a title I am proud of. Unlike the other consultants, I wear casual clothes when they do
and I spend time listening and talking to everyone (from the first-year grad developer to the
ICT director) about their problems and offer solutions. I want the client to see Innodev as
a partner who is invested in and cares about their long-term goals and not just short-term
gain. I constantly promote that difference at my client site and every Innodev employee
who has worked at the client site has delivered value and re-enforced the message that we
are different than the rest!”
